Earlier this year, I was asked to create a custom Modern Outer Space Birthday Party for a dear friend of mine. My daughter and her son have been friends since they were just 4 months old, so it was an honor to create something “out of the world” for the birthday boy!
We quickly decided on the colors turquoise, orange and lime green. The first thing I did was get started on the invitation. I loved the cute clipart set by DreAmLoft!
Next, I started on making the centerpieces. I had a vision that I wanted them to look like a real moon with craters and have a large rocket blasting off from it. To personalize it, I added a “P” and a “4” to the rocket’s port holes. I also added planets and an astronaut. I found some silver star wire at the dollar store and wrapped it around the base. Then, I made chocolate star lollipops in matching colors and stuck them around the base as well. I just love how it turned out! (Later this week I will share a step-by-step tutorial on how I made the moon centerpieces.)
For the dessert table, I made Marshmallow Aliens (chocolate covered marshmallows), Saturn’s Rings (gummy rings), Outer Space Goldfish, Pop Rocks Marshmallow Pops, Moon Rocks (Cookie Crisp cereal), Space Worms (gummy worms), Pretzel Rockets (chocolate covered pretzel rods), Space Money (chocolate coins), and Gumball Meteors. There were also cupcakes in 5 different flavors. The kids loved all of the goodies!
It was so much fun putting this party together! Happy 4th Birthday Parker!

Did you ever put together a tutorial on making the centerpiece? I’m making similar centerpieces and wasn’t sure if you just used a piece of larger foam for the black base part (I need something to make it a little more stable so they don’t fall over). Thanks!
